Total Body Tone [Blogilates]

Yesterday was miserable so I didn't get a workout done, which means I need to fit one in today. We have brunch plans, luckily the people we're going with today don't get up much before noon so I have time to slip one in this morning. Boyfriend is going to the actual gym, but I've done that a fair bit this week (for all that they've been shortie workouts) so I think I'm going to stay home. Plus, I had a hard time getting out of bed and would rather work out than spend useless time in transit. It's early and my brain isn't functioning at its optimal level yet so I'm going for something easy - the blogilates 100 workout.

I guess working out first thing in the morning isn't really my bag. I kind of wandered through these exercises, definitely not giving it my all. It took me like a hundred years to get through the squats alone, not to mention the fact I wandered into the kitchen at some point for water. I did get all the way through the tacked on blogilates workout, so... there's that. It's a 'something better than nothing' kind of day...

30:00 Run [TIU]

Looks like I'm stuck at work a bit late today AND I have fancy dinner plans later, so unfortunately not a lot of time for healthiness today. I hate when I have to unexpectly work late - every minute saps away my will to care about anything other than getting home and being a slug. Preferably with a glass of wine and a blanket. And dog. BUT. I know for a fact I'll be eating 1038703 calories at the new fancy brew pub boyfriend and I are trying later, so I shall endeavor to do something that's good for me. The girls at ToneItUp released this fat burning treadmill workout today, so I think I'll give it a shot. Never say no to some quality fat burninating.

This workout was... inconclusively difficult. I don't know if there was much fat burning going on. It was definitely hard to follow. Like, there was *almost* a 2: walk/2: run/1: sprint thing going on, but then it switched to :30 sprint/:30 rest... then 7 of the last 10:00 were supposed to be walking which seems like a huge waste to me. And to barely hit 3 miles in 30 minutes? That's nothing. I kind of like this style of workout with the hill and the speed differences, but next time I take it on there are going to be some changes.

Total Body Tabata [P&I]

Trying something a bit different today as I'm due for a total body lifting session but don't particularly feel like making one up. So I perused some of the workouts I have saved and remembered the Pumps & Iron website. Most of her workouts are tabata-style, which is going to work great considering I don't really feel like spending too much time working out today. I'm into efficiency. This is based off of the P&I 30-minute interval workout.

That was a nice little workout! I was definitely sweating by the end. Missing a little bit in the back muscles department, but that can be remedied the next time around. Maybe the planks can be plank rows or something.

So I'm torn on this style of workout, because on the one had it's done in a set amount of time. But on the other, I know I'm definitely slacking a little more than I could be. It's the time that gets to me -- I operate much better on a 'reps' basis. Once I get the number I think I can do in the time, I kind of give up once I've hit that number. It might help to think to myself that for each set I should do one more or something, but as I get more and more tired those numbers are unattainable and I start giving up earlier. Hmm. Need to figure out something to keep me working hard through the end of the time...

30:00 Row

Very little time to exercise today, but I need to fit it something to atone for yesterday. Instead of workout out as I planned, Boyfriend and I got drafted last-minute into participating in our kickball team's end of season flipcup tournament. It started at 7, which was barely enough time to get out of work and get to, much less enough time to be some sort of healthy. It was pretty fun, although I think next time they need to not start at 7 PM. Not because I can't get there in time (although there is that), but because flipcup is a game you need to play when you're not entirely sober. My drunk muscles need time to remember what they're doing -- when you go in cold, you suck! Which is what happened to our team. We're very good - we came to our current kickball league from one that breeds flipcup national champions, so we pride ourselves on knowing what we're doing. While we destroyed the first two teams we faced 3-0 (another point -- best of 5 when there are 8 people on a team? Really? THIS IS LIKE ZERO DRINKING), it wasn't because we were on point. We were struggling, but still better than the other teams. In the finals we finally got some competition and lost by a single flip. It shouldn't even have been that close, but every round there was someone knocking the rust off. Had we been at the top of their game we would have won! Harumph. More drinking necessary!

Anyway, today I have a whiskey tasting (fancy, I know) at 8, so I have to hustle to fit in my healthiness. To the rowing machine, because it's the hardest one at the gym!

Blogilates - Cardio

Happy Veterans Day! I have the day off (yaaaaay), unfortunately boyfriend does not (booo). I'm actually not that torn up about it though - I'm weirdly excited to actually clean our house after 6 weekends in a row of being out of town; I know if he was around we'd get distracted by brunch or some such and nothing would get clean. Do you have any idea how many loads of laundry I have to fold? Like.. 9. No joke. Plus I'm still mid-wardrobe-cutover, so I've got to get them sweaters out of boxes and put away the mini dresses until April (let's be honest - May).

As I usually do when I'm left to my own devices, today's workout came in pieces, like 10-15 minutes each. I prefer this method because it helps break up the monotony of the boring things I should be doing (working, folding laundry, vacuuming...). And the bright side is I usually end up working out extra long without even noticing! That wasn't the case today, sadly, but I still got in some decent sweating.

Total Body Tone [TIU]

Happy Halloween!! I LOVE Halloween -- I love finding the perfect costume, getting dressed up and seeing what everyone else has cleverly thrown together. Which is why I'm super disappointed that I've pretty much missed Halloween this year. Last weekend's wedding and this weekend's camping trip have knocked out both Hallo-weekends, and tonight is 'madly prep for the camping trip' night. There are tons of errands to run, firewood to obtain, bags to pack and food to prep so that we can get out of here in a timely fashion tomorrow. Last year we didn't prep properly, spent 3 hours running around looking for a fire pit (we went to three home depots. THREE) because the one we had ordered off Amazon got rerouted due to Sandy and we needed something to cook on, didn't end up leaving until almost 10 PM, arrived just before midnight, and had to set up our tents in complete blackness because they turned the lights off at 12. I was thisclose to turning around and going home. But I didn't, we had fun, and I learned my lesson: advanced planning! So here I am now, sacrificing my Halloween to make oatmeal cakes so I don't starve to death. Sigh. At least I got away with wearing my Ninja Turtles shirt to work today.

Only a little bit of time to work out today due to the afore-mentioned errands and baking, so I did a quick toning routine in the 20 minute intervals my oatmeal cakes were baking in. Routine is from ToneItUp, a special Halloween workout.

Distance Run - 3.65 mi

Kickball day! Which means no time for a real workout, but since I'm still working off the massive amounts of butter I ingested over the weekend (and I slacked yesterday) I need to do *something*. So, I'll run to the kickball fields! They're less than 2 miles away, but if I turn right instead of left and head up the hill before I go down to the fields, plus run a bit beyond and come back I can stretch that to 4, which is a completely reasonable distance for a proper workout.

My hamstrings were much sorer than I originally thought they were, which meant I was not moving nearly as fast as I had planned. That, coupled with the fact I got out of my house about 5 minutes later than I should have meant I had to cut the run short since I wanted to make it to kickball on time. Oh well, at least I got in something.

I laugh sometimes though - 3 years ago or so I would have considered running 3 1/2 miles a massive accomplishment. Back then, 3 was pretty much the norm, and more often than not I took a puppy playtime break about a mile in (we would run by the park and he'd get so excited!). Now, I'm disappointed in myself if I don't make it at least 5, but 6 is better, and more often than not I'm the one dragging the pup through those last miles. Sometimes I get distracted and run more, although 10 is my max and I've only done that a couple of times (I have better things to do than devote that much time to running, thankyouverymuch).

30:00 Row

Saturday workout!! Who rocks? This girl. I'm usually such a waste of space on weekends after goinggoinggoing all week, but BF and I skipped a few too many workouts this week and had to atone at the gym this morning. We didn't have a lot of time (BeerFest afternoon!), so I rowed to maximize calorie-burning-ness. BF rowed as well, but I won the distance challenge. Yay!

15:00 Run + 15:00 Abs [P&I]

BF and I are on our way to Nashville to visit his parents, so this morning's workout was a quickie in the hotel gym. We have about 7 hours of driving still ahead of us and we slept in a little later than we would have liked, but didn't want to sit so long without getting SOME sort of sweat session in. Especially considering we're going to have a huge steak dinner later tonight. There will probably be mashed potatoes involved. And deep fried things, since, you know, the south.

Ab workout is from Pumps&Iron, although I modified it from a 9 x :30 work period + :30 rest to a 12 x :20 work/:10 rest format. It's a little less 'work' time, but it takes me almost that long to re-arrange myself from one exercise to another so I don't think I'm losing much. EDIT: I just realized this also makes it longer, since apparently I'm no good at the maths. Whoops. Oh well, no one ever complained about exercising more, right? Probably?

Total Body Lift [TIU] + 2 mi. Walk

Lifting day today! I'll be doing a total body plus an ab workout from ToneItUp. The exercises look legit, my biggest concern is that I don't know whether I'm supposed to go through the workout once, twice, or a million times. My plan is to see how long it takes me and judge from there. Another minor concern is that they pair deadlifts with shoulder lifts, and my hamstrings can take on waaaay more weight than my poor shoulders. Maybe I'll just do so many that the weight doesn't matter. Plan!

It's also recommended that I do 20 minutes of cardio, so if I have time/energy I'm thinking about doing a ZCUT. We'll see...

Oh balls. You know how I was curious about how this seemed really short? I finally found the (FINE PRINT RANDOMLY IN THE MIDDLE) bit that says 'repeat 1-3 times'. I guess I did it once, but I'm def not going to get anywhere doing that. Damnit. I hate wasting workouts... I'm just going to assume everything should be done 3x through from now on.

I didn't fit in any additional cardio because I got distracted by dinner, but I did walk the dog about 2 miles, which took forever - that counts right?

Core Workout [ToneItUp] + 2 mi. Jog

Such a gorgeous day today! Since I typically feel bad for romping around outdoors and leaving the pup to stew inside, but also I'm not up for a run today, I'm going to try something a little different: I'm going to take my (equipment-free!) workout outside, give the dog a squeeky ball, and hope he entertains himself long enough to get some reps in. We'll see how it works out, but I'm hoping this becomes a regular warm-weather thing. Everyone deserves some time in the sun!

Today's workout is day two of this week's Tone It Up schedule. I'm not going to lie, it doesn't look like much. There's an ab workout plus a short full-body workout. As far as I can tell I'm only supposed to go through each series once, and there don't seem to be TOO many reps involved. I might have to tack on something else as the end, but we'll see!

Total Body Lift [ToneItUp] + 30:00 Bike

Whew! Been a seriously busy month so far -- between traveling to Arizona to cheer on my sister at the NCAA gymnastics regional meet and then prepping for slash being in a wedding this past Saturday there hasn't been a lot of down time. While I have been fitting in workouts, especially last week when I was hitting it extra hard to look good in the wedding photos, I haven't had a chance to track things as I should. It got to the point where I can't even remember if I worked out one of the days or not! Disaster. Today I'm going back to good habits! Hopefully over the course of the week I'll back-fill the workouts from earlier this month, but they'll be pretty bare-bones.

New workout source today: Tone It Up. I'm going to be trying several of their workouts this week to see if I want to jump on their bikini program that starts up next month. My first impression is that they're a little more commercial than I'm used to, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The website is run by two gorgeous woman - Karena and Katrina - and focuses on both fitness and healthy eating. I found them originally because Kelly from Eat Yourself Skinny was jumping on their nutritional bandwagon, but then I learned that they're also this year's trainers for Self's annual 'Drop 10' program. I signed up for the program, but because I'm crap at following instructions I'll probably be just using it as 'inspiration'. Can never have too many sources of workouts or recipes in my book.

Unfortunately, clumsy me managed to step on some glass during the reception on Saturday, so I'm going to avoid running for a few days to let the wounds heel. And of course since I decided doing 20 minutes of jump rope on Friday followed by hours of jumping around the dance floor Saturday was good planning, my calves are still in recovery mode. That leaves me with few choices for today's workout, so I'm going with some low-impact lifting followed by some stationary biking if I'm feeling frisky. Lifting series is ToneItUp's 'TLC : Tone, Lift, Cinch' workout. Bikini body, here I come!

Those shoulder presses were killer! Which is a little disappointing, because I can totally lunge and row the heavier weight, but as soon as we start talking about 30 bicep curls PLUS the should presses it gets too difficult. I'm also a little surprised as to how hard this workout actually was -- didn't feel like much at the time, but I'm feeling it today!

ZCUT #1 + Blogilates - Total Body

Hello, my name is Britt, and I have a problem. [chorus: hiiiiii Britt!] Not a Problem kind of a problem, more of a "problem", really. And my problem is this: I have the complete and utter inability to trust that a given workout program is going to help me become a better me. There are TONS of them out there -- I can point to nearly a dozen online just off the top of my head. But to me, they all seem so... one-dimensional? Because here's the thing: I like the fact I can lift heavier things than most people. I also like the fact I could wander outside and run 10 miles right now if I felt like it (although my boss would likely not appreciate the effort). And while I'm well aware my flexibility could use some work, I'm completely at ease with the fact I will absolutely never make it into a full wheel pose. And knowing that, I have a hard time trusting that these abilities won't disappear the second I change up my usual workout routine.

Yes, I understand that jumping up and down is good for me. While the universe would like me to think that 4 weeks of jumping up and down, killing myself, 9 minutes at a time will give me enviable abs, will it improve my 10k pace? Will lifting 10 pound weights for a solid 7 minutes straight help put more weight on the bicep bar, or will it just make me better at lifting almost nothing for absurd periods of time? I don't know. The cynical part of me thinks that as fit as all these people building the workout programs are, they must be doing SOMETHING beyond what they're telling me to do, right? They didn't REALLY get that fit just from doing what they're telling me to do. There have to be secret 10-milers on the side or some such...

But, I'll also never know what works unless I try it, right? And I probably can't completely destroy my current fitness abilities by switching up my routine for just one short month. Probably. That's what I'm going to keep telling myself as I tackle a month of my two new favorite workouts -- for the next 4 weeks (or however long I stick with it), I'm going to try and follow the ZCUT workouts and the MarchMakeover Blogilates calendar. Now, pretty much I already know this is doomed to failure since both programs advocate working out like 6 times a week, which I just don't do. I'm a 3- or 4-workouts a week kind of girl. 5 is a fantastic effort. 2 is pathetic. So I'm hoping by combining these two programs and maybe throwing in some extra cardio along the way I'll make up for my lack of every day dedication. And, if I'm really lucky, all this will be enough to tone me up for a stint as a bridesman in t-minus 5 weeks. Strapless dress, here I come...

So this workout was a leeeeettle bit of a cop-out, but boyfriend came home while I was in the middle of pop sculpt and as soon as that happens I always lose the motivation to do any more exercise. There's dinner to make! Pup to play with! And I always feel weird jumping up and down when there are other people in the house. Hopefully I'll get better at that, otherwise I'm never going to accomplish anything...

Total Body Lift

Happy Mardi Gras! A friend of mine is cooking dinner, but I managed to escape work a bit early to sneak in a workout -- with all the restaurants and drinking of the past 2 weeks and a weekend in New Orleans coming up, I need all the help I can get!

I stole this workout off The Fitnessista -- it's the workout for week 3 of her 'Winter Shape Up 2013' series. It's supposed to be paired with a HIIT workout, but unfortunately I don't have time today. Next time!

The workout is accomplished by doing the first 'monster set' 3 times, resting 1:00 between sets, then doing the second set 3 times, again with 1:00 rest.

Note to self: work on your triceps, they suck at life. Just as you feared. Also your biceps, because they should be able to handle 15 pounds, no problem, and this was definitely a bit of a struggle. Also a memo to the world: if you're not actively using the machine, I'm allowed to ask to jump in for a quick set. There's no need to give me the evil eye.

15:00 Upper Body Lift + 35:00 Run

So I'm trying a new thing, we'll see if it sticks. *If* I have the time (and some days that's a pretty big if), I'm going to try and sneak in 10-15 minute muscle-specific lifting sessions before my cardio workouts. Arms or abs, most likely. Maybe back.

The reason I'm trying this new thing is because I feel like, by and large, my cardio routines stress my legs -- running, biking, climbing stairs? All mostly leg-centric activities. Rowing is the only one that I feel hits a few other major muscle groups, but I can't do that every day or I'll get bored (plus, there's this one guy at the gym that just OWNS the rowing machine. For two hour stretches. Just KILLS IT. Rowing and rowing above his head and rowing with one arm and rowing and twisting and rowing in ways I'm pretty sure that machine is not meant to be rowed. AND he does it all in khaki cargo shorts and sandals! Not, like, flip flops, obviously, but those outdoorsy ones you'd get from REI that are like hiking boots with holes in them. You know, they're made of leather and have a real sole and... no? Well, regardless, not what I'd consider an athletic shoe. He scares me and I'm not embarrassed to admit that I plan my rowing workouts to avoid the times he's doin' his thing -- usually Tuesdays and Thursdays. Never Fridays. Yes, I know the general workout schedules of my fellow gym patrons. Don't judge.).

Also, while I fully intend to keep my full-body sessions because they are a most excellent workout, I'm not entirely convinced I'm going to get MObama arms by doing 10 pushups twice a week. Call me crazy. And since it seems everyone and their trainer has 15 minute workouts, I'm jumping on the bandwagon. Today it's arms. (Tomorrow, the world!).

I will not hesitate to ax this entire endeavor if I find I'm starting to spend 2 hours at the gym at a time. Definite deal-breaker. I'm a 60, 75 minute max kind of girl, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

Such a great workout! I even had the energy to fit in an extra round of intervals (originally only planned for the 2 sets). I figured I had the time, and since I was most definitely going to be consuming oversized portions of pasta and cake for dinner, I should probably take the extra 5 minutes. I was surprised that I actually felt the fatigue in my arms while on the treadmill after doing that quick lift. Definitely going to try and fit things like that in more often. Body is super tired today, so I will likely skip the gym. Wine and puppy snuggles sound like a much better plan.

Spartacus Workout + 15:00 Incline Treadmill

It's back! THIS IS SPARTA! Not really, but, still. This was the workout I was super into last fall -- it probably found its way onto my schedule 3-4 times a month, which is a fairly big deal for me as I get easily bored. It fell of the radar a bit over the holidays because, let's be honest, it's hard and I was most definitely not going all-out at the gym around Christmas. The cookies (and cake. and brownies. and booze. and... beef.) I ate instead were DELICIOUS. Sorry I'm not sorry.

However, now it's February, the holiday excuses are long gone, I've got a month of working out and eating vegetables under my belt and I'm totally back in the groove. Time to dust this baby off. It might suck, it might not, but it's time to try. Shall we?

As a reminder, because I definitely had to look it up myself, this workout is done HIIT-style, with :50 of work followed by :10 of rest before moving on to the next exercise. I've made some modifications to the moves because my gym decided to ax the hexagonal dumbbells and like hell am I trying to do pushups on ones that roll. We'll see how they turn out.

On the one hand, it's as hard as I remember. On the other, it's only as hard as I remember! Well, the split jumps were a little harder then they were last year, but that's understandable seeing as how I've done virtually no plyometrics training in recent memory.

Since this was the only day I wasn't rushed at the gym I went ahead and tacked on a short cardio workout when I was done with Spartacus. I had hoped to be able to run a mile or two, but I decided that since I'm entirely incapable of running at one speed on the dreadmill for any length of time when I'm fresh and ready to go, there was no way I was going to survive attempting to do it while tired. I knew I needed some intervals, but also knew I was too tired to sprint, so I settled on walking hills. My hamstrings are definitely feeling it, 24 hours later. Today's going to be an 'active rest day' -- planning on taking the dog for a nice long walk. Everyone wins!

26:00 Bike

Superbowl Snackadium 2013: CRUSHED IT! It turned out so well! It took almost 2 straight days of prepping, cooking, and building and a lot of help from my 'sous-chef' but it got done, and it was glorious. The only thing that fell off the menu were the sweet potato bites, which is disappointing to me but I don't think anyone else noticed.

As always, now that I've had my fun it's time to get back to work. Even more so since the Superbowl is just kicking off (hah) 2 weeks of debauchery for me -- two reservations at fancy restaurants, beer-lympics, boyfriend's birthday tequila brunch, Valentine's dinner AND a long weekend bachlorette party in New Orleans, in addition to the regular occurrence of Wednesday night trivia. Going to have to get creative to fit in workouts in the near future, because not working out is definitely not an option. I might have to *gasp* get up early... gross...

Tonight marks the beginning of Restaurant Week around these parts, which is a 2-week time span where a lot of the nicer restaurants offer a $35 fixed-price menu. I've always managed to miss it in the past, so I'm excited that I'm actually going to get to experience it this time around. Twice, no less! But 8:30 reservations mean I only have a bit of time to devote to the gym, so tonight I'm just going to hit the stationary bike for awhile. I'll be better tomorrow, promise!

For some reason, I didn't feel like I got in that "good" of a workout with this. I've done it before and felt accomplished, and my legs were definitely burning, but I didn't get my usual satisfaction from it. Maybe because I know it's kind of a wimpy effort in the face of the decadance looming? Like, oh, great, you did 20 minutes on a bike, congrats! Now you're going to eat three pounds of butter because Jose Andres tells you to. ALL YOUR EFFORT WAS FOR NAUGHT. MUHAHAHAHAHA! Sigh. Disappointing. Well, tomorrow I'll kill it. Hopefully...

35:00 Row + Superbowl Menu

Friday! Even better, it's SUPERBOWL Friday! Which means I have some serious cooking to do. For the second year I'm planning on putting together an epic Superbowl Snackadium and I'm super pumped about it. I did it last year for a fairly small-ish group of 15 people and it was a thing of beauty. This year I'm upping the ante and trying to feed around 25 people, including several  veggiesauri and at least one whom is gluten-averse. Full menu:

1. Guacamole [pre-made]
2. Salsa [pre-made]
3. Hummus [pre-made]
4. Roasted Veggie Dip
5. Hot Buffalo Chicken Dip [slow cooker]
6. BBQ Beef Sliders
7. Pesto Portobello Sliders
8. Chicken Wonton Tacos
9. Thai Peanut Chicken Wings [slow cooker]
10. Tequila Lime Turkey Chili [slow cooker]
11. Hearty Veggie Chili [slow cooker]
12. Sriracha Quinoa Bites
13. Mac & Cheese Bites
14. Prosciutto-Wrapped Asparagus Spears
15. Herb Crusted Sweet Potato Bites
16. Bacon-Wrapped Goat Cheese Stuffed Dates (Devils on Horseback)
17. Southwestern Egg Rolls
18. Football Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
19. Car Bomb Cupcakes

Huh. Looks a mite bit ambitious when I lay it all out like that. But it's gonna happen! However before I can cook, I need to shop, and that's where Costco comes in. I love Costco, no joke. I can't quite justify having a membership since I'm pretty sure boyfriend and I don't *actually* need 30 pounds of beef tenderloin (or maybe we do...), but a friend of mine is willing to shepherd me around while I buy absurd amounts of bell peppers. So pumped!

Because of the shopping, I have to cut today's workout a bit short. And what's better for short workouts than the erg? Nothing. Probably. But I haven't had a good row in awhile, so erg(ging?) it is.

Well, I kept a normal pace for most of the sets, but I definitely felt slower as more piled on; I don't think I've ever done 5 intervals in a row before, normally I cap it at 4. But it's going to be a fat kid kind of weekend so I decided to go for it. Although 2 days of cooking should totally burn some calories...

But only if I don't eat all the ingredients as I go...

15:00 Jump Rope

Very little time to workout today -- it's 'Prom' night! No, not actual Prom -- it's my company's annual Winter Gala. Every January they rent out a museum for us to frolic about in; we get dressed up super fancy and drink their booze whilst trying not to ruin the priceless dinosaurs or diamonds or canoes or whatever. There aren't a ton of opportunities in my life to actually wear a shiny dress, so I always enjoy the excuse. This year I ordered a new dress, which is currently sitting at the FedEx store, conveniently located on my route home from the office. Inconveniently, my wallet is sitting on the table at home and the FedEx guy needs my ID to release my package. So I have to go home, come back, AND get prettified before 8 PM, which isn't going to leave a lot of time for exercise. If I manage to squeeze in 15 minutes, it's going to be this 15 minute jump rope workout from the Women's Health Big Book of 15 Minute Workouts.

Couple things ended up happened -- first and most importantly, I decided to stop by FedEx before I went home just to see if I could get my package without my license, and the guy at the counter totally accepted my work badge as a valid ID! Win! So since I didn't have to trudge all the way home and back, I got to spend a little extra time at the gym -- I threw in the ab workout I skipped on Thursday to the end and took the opportunity to do some extra stretching.

Turns out I suck at jump roping. Or, rather, I suck at jump roping fast. I can keep my little moderate pace forever, but the second I speed up I start whipping myself with the rope. Not fun. So instead of speeding through 2 minutes, I added some butt kicks and high knees. Then the double-under jumps were a disaster, so instead of struggling through them for 2 minutes and spending most of that time tripping over the rope, I gave up after 1 minute and moved on. I added in more single-foot jumps later to make up for it. I also got bored 'running' so I went back to the butt kicks/high knees, which I figure are pretty much the same but harder.

Also, I somehow ended up doing 16 minutes instead of the 15 it was supposed to take. Don't really know how that happened, honestly...

{EDIT} -- the first two rounds of single foot jumping were supposed to be :30 each, not a minute. So I feel less bad about having to cut that minute in half and do :30/leg twice because after :30 my calves were ready to fall off
